For thirteen years, between 1985 and 1998, foreign affairs program Diogenes, by VPRO Television, brought a unique combination in between documentary cinematography and TV-journalism.
The program used 16mm film until the end, using Holland's best cameramen.
At times, a crew would spend weeks to disentangle the subject, so often the final story deviated completely from traditional views.
